DON'T SEEK SUCCESS (A personal development Series)

Francis and Ferdinand were born unto the same parents,given the same cares & attentions as they were growing up.Even in stature,they were growing in the same Pace & size ,so identical as twins.

Both started their educational  pursuit at the same nursery  ,and accomplished their primary education in the same year, it seems both are even identical in their level of intelligence. 

After obtained the secondary school certificate ,both were waiting for admission in to  the University. But within a year of this waiting, they got involved in the family's business, helping their father out with one traction or the other & as a  result, they were earning some cash for themselves, their account balance had started bulging. 

A year after, their admission letter came by and both got admission into their chosen university. In the course of admission process & registration, a thought dawn on Francis, saying "why this stress ?"Did the stress of admission process really worth the investment "? These were the loud conversation going on Francitarget. After all, there are many graduates out there, still seeking employment, besides, either one goes to school or do other things, the end target is to earn and make money, these were the thought welling up in Francis mind. 

After pondering on those thought for many days, Francis made up his mind to forfeit his admission and rather wish to learn more about the family business till he will be able to be on his own. 

When he made his decision known to Ferdinand his twin brother & their parents, they tried all they could to talk him out of such erroneous decision but all to no avail. So after many attempts that wasn't yielding result, they let him be and allow him to have his way. Two years after, while Ferdinand was still in his 200level at the university, Francis had started his own business & his business already thriving, in credit to this, he has gotten himself a car, to some extent we could say that he has made a good decision ,compare to his twin brother, who is still an undergraduate & still relying on allowances from their parents. 

Before Ferdinand would graduate ,Francis had began a family, having a beautiful wife & a lovely daughter, having his own five bedrooms bungalow at the suburb of the city.

Ferdinand on his own side, was a vibrant member of the Student Union Government. His intelligence & pro activeness earned him a post at the central secretariat of the student union, thus, he was opportune to be among the student representatives to always deliberate student affairs with the federal government. That office avail him the privilege of insight into the political world, thus came in contact with some big wig in politics. 

After graduation, one of those politicians helped Ferdinand with employment into one of the federal ministries. After a while ,he joined himself to a political party ,active and vibrant and few years down the lane, he got elected as a senator, representing his constituency.

Dear friend, within the context of this story, Francis, the twin brother of Ferdinand, choose to deal in bringing values to the market place, which paid him much as narrated above,  but Ferdinand choose to become a person of more values and that paid him so much more in multiple of whatever Francis his twin brother earned. 

While am not despising entrepreneurship, which is the path to life time fortunes, but the point am making is that Francis would have made it much more bigger, assuming  he gave in to capacity building, finish his university degree, and learn the modern way of doing business, all these would have increase his values, because the income you earn is in direct proportion of your perceived value to the market place. 

For instance, the value perceived of diamond, made it costlier than stone, despite that stone is valuable for construction. At the same time, the perceived value on PMS made it costly than water ,while the value on Gold, make it costlier than the other metals.  Dear friend ,the more Valuable you become, determines the financial value the market will placed  on you. 

My experience at a manufacturing company ,buttress the fact why one should seek to be more Valuable than seeking success. Here, the guy sitting behind the desk & working with the computer system, in a fully air conditioned office, determines what happen to and earn more than the guy in the production floor, who is engaged in hard work. What an injustice, you may think? But the reason is because, the fellow behind the desk had took time to work on his or her being, to become a person of more values than the guy in the production floor and the law guiding the market place recognize the person of more values than he that's bringing valuables. 

Dear friend ,Success isn't something you seek, that is, there's no need to look for success rather it is something you become by becoming more Valuable and the more Valuable you become, the more success, you'll attract. 

Ladies and Gentlemen, what's that thing that could bring your name to people's mind? I meant, what have you become an expertise in?  What gift have you so developed that can demand a release on people's hard earned money? 

When people thinks of Boxing ,the name Anthony Joshua comes to the mind, what of an amazing lady tennis player? You'll remember Serena Williams. What about a talented hip hop lady singer, the name Tiwa Salvage can't be ignore in this part of the world. Dear friend, what's that thing that bring your name to people's mind? It shows how valuable you're. But if no one remember you for anything, it also shows your level of value and the reason why you need to work more on yourself. If you'll develop a certain gift or become an expertise in a particular field, with wish you can help people to solve their problems or getting them closer to their desires ,then people can't but pay you since ,they're in dare need of your solution. 

If you'll be an accountant, helping people & company to solve their books problem, you're of a value, and you'll surely be remember when such solutions is needed, but becoming a chartered accountant, would make you much more Valuable. If you'll be a lawyer, instill law and orders in the society and helping people to get justice, they will surely pay you for your value, but becoming a senior advocate shall earn you in multiple fold. A Specialist doctor can't be snub, teachers are always in demand, to teach and enlighten. All these afore mentioned expertise, had made themselves a person of high value and it shows that, the more Valuable you become, the more success you attracted. And mind you, no body get you paid just for your time as erroneously believed in some quarter, you only get pay to the tune of values you worth in the market place. 

So ,dear friend, strive always to be more Valuable, than you strive on any other things. 

To be seeking success, is to work hard on every other things but yourself ,which is a wrong way of attaining success, rather work more hard on yourself, than you did on your job, strive for excellent and how to be more better than any other things. Work on being and not on having, for whatever you have become, you'll surely possess. So stop seeking success, strive rather to be more Valuable.
