        WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY



June 7, 2019 is the inauguration of UN World food safety day, with the theme:

Food safety is everyone's business.
This was tailored to ensured that the food we eat are safe for consumption. This become a priority after research shows that an estimated 600 millions people contact illness from food eaten every year and about 420,000 die per annum as a result of contaminated food by parasites, bacteria, viruses and other contaminated agents.

Activities across the globe today in celebration of world food safety day was meant to encourage actions to help detect, prevent and manage foodborne diseases and health risks-- according to UN statement.

As a result of this, These five steps was created as a guide to get everyone involved in food safety ;
(1) Ensure it's safe: It is the responsibility of every nation's government to ensure safe & nutritious food for everyone.

(2) Grow it safe : Food producers must adopt good practices right from the farmers.

(3) Keep it safe : Food transporters and food business operators must ensure food is safely prepared, transported, stored for healthy consumption.

(4) Check it's safe: This is consumer's responsibility to demand access to timely, clear & reliable information about the nutritional & disease risk associated with their choices of foods.

(5) Team up for safety : Government of every nations, economic bodies, UN organisations, both consumer & producer groups, private sectors, all hands must be on deck for food safety issues.

As from this 7th June 2019, every 7th of June will be use to mark food safety day.
